IMECE is a women’s centre fighting against all forms of violence against women and girls, particularly among the Turkish, Kurdish and Cypriot Turkish women and Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic And Refugee groups.
IMECE has been our client for several years, looking after their WordPress support with security updates and content changes frequently. They were looking to refresh their site and make it work better for multi-lingual. The existing site had two websites, one in English and one in Turkish, meaning logging into each to make updates and, of course, using double the hosting resources.
We’ve used the multi-language system WPML on many sites over the years. It has the benefit of keeping all the content on a single site, making content edits easy in all languages. When working on the new design, we wanted to ensure a language selection option was easy to find, especially on mobile phones and simplifying the navigation was vital at the start of the web design phase.
Because we needed to combine two websites into one, the build took a little longer than usual. Still, working with the excellent Beaver Builder system, the new site was launched after around four weeks.
