Historical Autographs is an online catalogue of historical letters and manuscripts.

When Historical Autographs contacted us, they had an old website that had been running for many years but was in need of a refresh to ensure it worked well on mobile devices.

The general functionality of the site needed to remain the same, namely an online catalogue of around 1200 items, but not available to buy online. It had to be easy to see the numerous categories of autographs available quickly, so sidebar navigation, along with a top menu was required.

We wanted to make sure the new catalogue of items was easy to navigate and simpe for visitors to view the manuscripts. A zoom option was added when hovering over the images and extra item by item navigation. Finally, as buying online wasn’t required a bespoke coded enquiry button was added to item pages which passes information about the page the enquiry is coming from helping the team to be sure they know what each enquiry is about.
